Acclaimed Stunt Coordinator Hosting Master Class April 21 at River Campus – Southeast Missouri State University News

Acclaimed fight and stunt coordinator Kevin McCurdy will offer a master class focused on diversity and safety issues in stunt coordination April 21 at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.
This free class, open to the Southeast and local community, will be held at 2 p.m. in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall. McCurdy will be participating via Zoom.
The session, “The Changing Face of Stunt Coordination,” will address how the field has become more open to diverse types of people and the challenges that still remain to reach equity. McCurdy will also discuss the recent shooting incident during the filming of “Rust” and its impact on the film industry.
McCurdy’s master class is presented as part of Southeast’s Fault Line Film Festival
Guest Biography: 
McCurdy is a U.K.-based fight coordinator working at the highest levels of theater and film. Credits over his 23-year career include teaching Nicholas Cage to swordfight for “Season of the Witch,” choreographing fight scenes for “The Crucible” at the Old Vic Theatre in London, and coordinating matches for the pro-wrestling focused play “Glory!”
 As an Equity-registered fight coordinator, McCurdy is an active member of the movement to ensure positive workplace experiences for all, regardless of ethnicity, class, ability, gender and other identities.
