‘Beauty of the 32nd’ District: Legislator hosting Portland, Cromwell art contest – Middletown Press

State Rep. Christie Carpino, R-Cromwell
CROMWELL — As an effort to promote an appreciation of the community and environment, state Rep. Christie Carpino is hosting an art contest for residents, businesses and organizations in Cromwell and Portland to celebrate the “uniqueness and beauty” of the 32nd legislative district.
The collection of artwork will begin Monday, and will close May 30, according to a press release. Submissions will be displayed at the state Capitol complex in early June.
Artists should submit an original painting, drawing, photograph or combination on an 18- by-24-inch or smaller canvas or poster board. The imagery should represent the 32nd District and what makes it such an “amazing” community, the news release said.
Cromwell residents can drop off submissions at Town Hall for Town Manager Anthony Salvatore, while those who live in Portland can bring their works to Portland Town Hall for First Selectman Ryan Curley. Participants may also mail their art to State Rep. Christie Carpino, 300 Capitol Ave., Room 4200, Hartford, CT 06106.
The commemorative artwork will be displayed at the state Capitol from June 6 to 17. Carpino will also share the artwork on social media.
