Host Humboldt boys victorious at Bunn | News, Sports, Jobs – Fort Dodge Messenger

HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt boys track and field team claimed the Charlie Bunn Relays title here Thursday night at Mason Maach Field.
The Wildcats scored 152 points to hold off Pocahontas Area and Clear Lake. Southeast Valley was fourth followed by Manson Northwest Webster, Clarion-Goldfield/Dows, Webster City and Algona.
Humboldt claimed two relay titles and the 400 courtesy of Mason Van Pelt, who clocked a time of 54.22. The distance medley relay of Carson Berte, Ryder Wickett, Jackson Dodd and Trevor Jacobson finished first in 3:50.10, while the shuttle hurdle relay of Jordan Coon, Keegan Groat, Corey Dettmann and Caden Matson placed first in 1:01.81.
Jackson Chambers (3,200), Matson (110 hurdles and 400 hurdles) and Kaleb McCullough (discus) each grabbed silvers for the Wildcats.
Southeast Valley’s 4×100 of Carl Berglund, Kaleb Scott, Kolson Kruse and Tre Fisher broke the school record with a time of 44.55, qualifying them for the Drake Relays.
Fisher also won the long jump (21-1) and Kruse was the runner-up.
For Pocahontas Area, Adam Axman swept the distance events, placing first in both the 1,600 (5:00.10) and 3,200 (10:57.82). Jacob Gerdes was the 800 winner in 2:05.58 and the 4×400 and sprint medley relays earned gold.
Josiah DeYoung, Chase Cook, Gerdes and Brandon Lenz ran the 4×400 in 3:34.62, while Dominic Connelly, Alex Welander, Cook and Lenz comprised the sprint medley, which clocked a time of 1:38.34.
Cook (100), Lucas Kopriva (800), Ben Berte (1,600), the 4×800 and distance medley relay were each second.
Cael Collins on the 110 hurdles in 15.44 and Matt Condon the high jump by clearing 6-0 to lead Manson Northwest Webster.
Eagle Grove’s Blake Morgan won the 200 in 23.33 with the 4×200, 4×400 and sprint medley relays finishing second. Rigo Bobadilla was the 400 runner-up from Clarion-Goldfield/Dows.
Webster City’s J.J. Moore won both the discus (153-11) and shot put (53-6), while the 4×100 for the Lynx placed second. Algona’s Jaxon Woodyard was the shot put runner-up.
