Vienna society hosting author | News, Sports, Jobs – Warren Tribune Chronicle

HISTORY OF THE MAHONING VALLEY: The Vienna Historical Society will host Sean Posey, photographer and author of “Lost Youngstown” and “Historical Theaters of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley,” who will speak 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Vienna United Methodist Church, 4265 Warren-Sharon Road. Books will be available for sale after the meeting.
CRAFT SHOW: The Bristolville spring craft show will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 1864 Greenville Road. There will be concessions, a 50/50 drawing and a silent auction. Money raised will be donated to the Warren Family Mission, Leukemia Foundation, Bristol Library and Bristol Township. Items are being accepted for the auction. HORSE SHOW: A horse show will be Saturday at the Trumbull Career and Technical Center, 528 Educational Highway, Champion. The event will be held rain or shine. Spectating is free for all ages. The show begins at 9 a.m. with the arena opening at 8:30 a.m. There is a large sand outdoor arena and an indoor arena. There will be prizes and concessions.
LIBERTY CLEANUP: Liberty will host its annual community litter cleanup noon to 3 p.m. Saturday and noon to 2 p.m. May 1. Any clubs, groups or families interested in cleaning areas are asked to meet at the township administration building to be assigned a street or participants can clean their own street. The Geauga Trumbull Solid Waste Management District will supply bags, gloves and giveaways. For information, call 330-759-1315, Ext. 1022.
FUNDRAISER EVENT: A fundraiser to help Erica Murphy, who needs a handicapped-accessible van, will be 1 to 5 p.m. May 1 at the Weathersfield fire hall in McKinley Heights. HOLOCAUST RECOGNITION: The Jewish Community Relations Council annual Student Holocaust Writing, Art and Multimedia Contest will be noon Thursday at the Mahoning County Courthouse. The event includes an educational presentation by Dr. Jacob Ari Labendz. Local students will be recognized in the contest.
GIRARD SOCIETY: The Girard Historical Society is hosting a membership drive with individual memberships at $10, family at $15 and students at $3. Annual dues are due Wednesday by sending to Girard Historical Society, 1011 N. State St., Girard. Those interested in volunteering can call 330-314-2345 or email [email protected]
YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS: Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley, in partnership with the Eastwood Mall, will host a one-day Youth Market Day 11 a.m. to 2 pm. Saturday at the mall in Niles. The event will feature young entrepreneurs who will offer their products and services for sale to the public. Judging and prizes will be awarded at the end of the event.
The awards ceremony will take place 2 p.m. at Eastwood Mall Center Court. Customers will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite business and awards will be given to the winners of three categories.
JCC OFFERS LIFEGUARD TRAINING: The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is offering Lifeguard Training for ages 15 and older Friday, Saturday and May 1.
This class provides participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies until EMS personnel can take over. Participants who successfully complete the course receive an American Red Cross certificate.
The training is 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and May 1.
The cost is $187 for JCC members and $250 for nonmembers. Visit jccyoungstown

Participants will have the opportunity to acquire a lifeguard position at the Jewish Community Center upon successful completion of the training.
