The Arbuckle Area Council BSA will be hosting their eighth annual benefit auction on Saturday morning. The event will include both live and silent auction items as well as a garage sale. Items up for grabs include farming equipment, water sports equipment and large musical instruments such as pianos and organs.
District Executive Rachel Fisher said all proceeds will be used to improve camps and programming for local scouts.
“We serve around 3,000 youth in Southern Oklahoma, and this will all be used to benefit the scouts in the Arbuckle Area Council,” Fisher said. “It will allow us to provide scholarships for camp, help scouts in need get their uniforms, and help us provide service and maintenance on our camps.”
Fisher said all the items being sold have come from donations from within the community. As the sale is taking place on Saturday morning, the scouts are still collecting donations. Donations can be dropped off at the scout office at 411 Veterans Blvd., and the scout are willing to come pick up larger items.
“There is still time for people to donate if they would like, and we’re happy to come pick up large items,” Fisher said. “That’s pretty much what we’ve been doing this week, driving around with aa trailer and picking up pianos.”
To contact the scouts about making a donation, call 580-223-0831 or email Rachel Fisher at [email protected] The auction will be at 411 Veterans Blvd. on Saturday, May 14 at 10 a.m.
