Notre Dame will host a ton of talent for its big summer official visit weekend from June 10-12. On Wednesday, Irish Illustrated and 247Sports added a new name to the visitor list for that weekend.
According to sources, we’ve learned that Waxahachie (Texas) high school four-star cornerback Calvin Simpson-Hunt, a Texas Tech commit from the class of 2023, will be on the Notre Dame campus for an official visit. The Fighting Irish entered the race with an offer on Apr. 29 and the staff has been putting in work ever since.
The Irish, which currently hold the No. 1 class nationally according to the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings, are looking for cornerbacks this cycle and would love to flip 247Sports’ No. 210 overall player and Top 20 cornerback.
On the field last fall, Simpson-Hunt was credited with 30 tackles, five tackles for loss, one sack and an interception. On the track as a sophomore, he posted 10.97 seconds in the 100-meter dash and a 22-second 200-meter time. This is a young man with good length and terrific speed, which seems to be his best trait and exactly what Notre Dame is looking for.
Cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens, defensive coordinator Al Golden and of course head coach Marcus Freeman will look to make a big move when Simpson-Hunt makes his way to South Bend that weekend.
