Women’s Golf 5/12/2022
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ole Miss women’s golf saw a total of three golfers receive Southeastern Conference postseason honors, the conference announced Thursday.
As voted by the conference coaches, Chiara Tamburlini earned first team All-SEC honors, while Natacha Host Husted snagged a spot on the SEC All-Freshman team. Senior Ellen Hutchinson-Kay was also selected to the SEC Community Service team.
This marks the first All-SEC honor of Tamburlini’s three-year Rebel tenure. The St. Gallen, Switzerland, native has a team-high stroke average of 72.62 throughout the 2021-22 campaign. Tamburlini is ranked No. 18 in the NCAA by Golfstat and No. 23 according to Golfweek.
Tamburlini recently registered a late surge at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional that earned her a sixth place finish in the region and punched her ticket to compete at the 2022 NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Arizona, as an individual. Tamburlini’s final round of 66 (-6) in Tallahassee also marked a new career-best mark, eclipsing her previous personal-best of 68 which she had set at the SEC Championship.
Tamburlini has posted team-best marks in top 5 (3), top 10 (6) and top 20 (10) finishes this season. She has earned a top 20 finish in every tournament she has appeared in for the Rebels throughout the year.
Capping off her rookie campaign with the Rebels with the first All-Freshman team nod for Ole Miss since Andrea Lignell in 2020, Host Husted wrapped up the 2021-22 season having made 11 total tournament appearances and finishing with a stroke average of 75.57 on the year.
The Copenhagen, Denmark, native tallied a total of three top 20 finishes over the course of her freshman season, including her first collegiate top 10 finish at the East Lake Cup, where she tied for eighth overall.
Hutchinson-Kay, having earned her degree in biomedical engineering just a week prior with a cumulative GPA of 3.62, has already seen multiple academic honors over her Ole Miss career including SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll and WGCA All-American Scholar recognition.
A member of both the Ole Miss Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Rebels International Committee, Hutchinson-Kay has been involved in numerous community service events over her four years playing for the Rebels. Having volunteered for Feed the ‘Sip, Trunk or Treat, the Hope to Dream campaign and the Oxford Elementary Car Drop programs, the Taby, Sweden, native has now earned the first SEC Community Service team honor of her career. Hutchinson-Kay also has involvement in the LPGA Girls Golf Program of Oxford.
