BENTON HARBOR, Mich. — Lake Michigan College has partnered with Berrien Regional Educational Service Agency’s Southwest Michigan Esports League to host an esports open house on Tuesday.
Held at the Todd Center on Lake Michigan College’s campus, the open house will run from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Esports is a competitive gaming platform that has grown in popularity at high schools and universities throughout the country over the past ten years, with about 200 institutions in the U.S. now featuring esports programs.
Lake Michigan College’s faculty advisor, Kyle Kelly, feels that esports is a professional industry that can still see major growth.
“This is a great opportunity for students to learn about those opportunities and what Lake Michigan College can offer,” said Kelly.
The event is open to all those currently in high school entering grades nine through 12.
Gamers will have the chance to play games such as Rocket League, Valorant, League of Legends, Super Smash Bros and more.
Lunch will be provided as a part of registration, which can be done online at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfOHBeInsHrw-kSOtpxDDSaPJqUdtetDTGdyiToU4siDbxPXg/viewform
