UES Precinct Hosting Night Out With Food, Ice Cream, Arts & More – Patch

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A Yorkville park will be filled with food, arts and crafts, a workout class and more Tuesday evening as part of the “National Night Out” hosted by the neighborhood’s police precinct.
The annual event, which aims to improve police-community relations and deter crime, will be held across the city on Tuesday, from 5–8 p.m.
That includes Carl Schurz Park, the green space along East End Avenue above East 84th Street.
Free activities at the park on Tuesday will include raffles and prizes, a pop-up barre class by Pure Barre, kids’ games, treats and desserts, and more.
Officers will also be available one-on-one to discuss public safety in the neighborhood, according to organizers.
Reports of crime have risen by 49 percent on the Upper East Side this year, with nearly all categories seeing an increase compared to last year, according to NYPD data. Still, the city’s crime rates remain far below where they stood before the 2010s.
