Justin Long in Fairfield to host 'Back to the Future' screening – CTPost

Justin Long visits the #IMDboat At San Diego Comic-Con 2022: Day Three on The IMDb Yacht on July 23, 2022 in San Diego, California.
Actor, comedian and Fairfield native Justin Long is returning to his hometown to host a screening of the 1985 classic, “Back to the Future.”
The screening is part of a day-long movie marathon of all three “Back to the Future” movies at the Sacred Heart University Community Theatre in Fairfield on Saturday, Aug. 6. Long will host the 8 p.m. screening of the first movie.
Long is a multi award-winning actor with work that spans a number of genres including horror, comedy, drama and science fiction. Some of Long’s most notable films include “DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story,” “Live Free or Die Hard,” “Tusk” and the “Alvin and the Chipmunks” series. Long is set to appear in the long-awaited “Clerks” sequel — “Clerks III.” The third movie in the Clerks franchise comes 16 years after the second movie, and follows the staff of the Quick Stop Convenience Store as they look to make their very own movie.
The actor has been quoted on numerous occasions about his love for “Back to the Future.” In a 2020 interview with IMDb, Long said that he remembered first watching the movie as a kid at the Fairfield Community Theatre (now-Sacred Heart University Community Theatre).
“I remember the feeling of being so thoroughly entertained. Like there was something exciting about it; an excitement that I hadn’t really experienced from a movie before,” Long said. “Every time I watch it, I marvel at something new.”
Long also said in the interview that while different generations admire different cultural heroes — such as Marlon Brando or Justin Bieber — he will forever look up to Michael J. Fox’s portrayal of Marty McFly in the movie.
The event will benefit the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a Connecticut based non-profit, founded by Paul Newman, that provides the joys of camp for ill children and their families. Long also has deep ties with the organization, even winning the Hole in the Wall Gang money from his win on Celebrity Family Feud last year
Long was born and raised in Fairfield and attended Fairfield College Preparatory School. His father, Raymond James Long, is a retired college professor who taught at Fairfield University, and his mother, Wendy Lesniak, is a former Broadway actress. His brother, Damian Long, is a teacher at Weston High School.
Screenings take place at the following times: “Back to the Future” at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m., “Back to the Future Part II” at 2 p.m. and “Back to the Future Part III” at 4:30 p.m. Justin Long will only host the 8 p.m. screening of “Back to the Future.” Tickets are free for all showings.
