CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – As the FCS regular season heads into week 5 of the 2022-23 regular season; Austin Peay State University is scheduled to host Eastern Kentucky during Homecoming weekend on Saturday.

This game for the Governors carries significance for a variety of reasons, the first being that this is their first A-Sun matchup since joining the conference.
Also, it’s the first time both teams have been ranked in a game at Fortera Stadium since the 2019 season. Austin Peay enters the matchup ranked 23rd in the FCS Coaches Poll. Meanwhile, Eastern Kentucky is ranked 20th.
APSU dropped a competitive first game of the season against Western Kentucky, but has since bounced back in a notable way. The Governors have won three straight games, and have outscored opponents 132-3 during that time frame.

Jevon Jackson is their lead back and is ranked 9th in the country in rushing yards. According to the NCAA, the redshirt freshman has 297 rushing yards on the season.
Even with Austin Peay’s offense centered on running the ball, quarterback Mike DiLiello has been one of the best players at his position this year.

According to the NCAA, DiLiello is ranked 8th in the country in passing yards. The fifth year quarterback has thrown for 899 passing yards. Austin Peay Athletics details that DiLiello also has compiled a QBR of 171.71, and has thrown for 13 touchdowns and only two interceptions.

Eastern Kentucky football

According to the NCAA, McKinney has 1,050 passing yards, and they have played only three games in the season. Eastern Kentucky Athletics show that the redshirt junior has a QBR of 158.5, and has thrown for 10 touchdowns and only three interceptions.

Behind their star quarterback, Eastern Kentucky has the 6th ranked scoring offense in the nation. According to the NCAA, the team averages 44.3 points per game.
The Colonels have a balanced offensive approach, but tend to favor throwing the ball. Eastern Kentucky has thrown the ball 56% of the time while their offense has been on the field this season.
