Fairs are scheduled for the Ottawa Area Center, a service of the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District, and Holland Public Schools.
Ottawa Area Center is looking for teachers, paraprofessionals, teacher aides and behavioral assistants to work with special needs students. The building serves students ages 3-26 with cognitive impairments.
Current staff will be on-hand to meet with candidates during three job fairs at the center, located at 10160 96th Ave. in Allendale. The events will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, and 9-10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17.
Teachers at OAC are required to have a Michigan teacher certification in a special education area such as cognitive impairment or health impairment. The center offers financial assistance for continuing education to teachers who are certified in another specialty and interested in pursuing a special education endorsement.

Paraprofessionals and teacher’s aide positions require at least a GED, the center said. The role involves interaction with students in the classroom. Behavioral assistants carry out and execute plans to support student behavior.
Anyone unable to attend that’s interested in working at the school can call 616-738-8960.
Holland Public Schools will hold a pair of job fairs with “on-the-spot” hiring next week. The events will be from 12-3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, and 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 at the HPS Administration Building, 320 W. 24th St. in Holland.
HPS is looking to hire for a variety of positions, including instructional assistants, bus drivers, substitute teachers, substitute secretaries and food service employees. The district held a similar event in September.
Openings in the district, according to its website, include 15 instructional assistants, five food service positions and a bus driver.
