Penn State’s Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity (CSGD) is hosting a variety of events to educate and celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month throughout October.
Last week, Brandon Wolf, a civil rights advocate and survivor of the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting, spoke at the HUB.

Additionally, the “Poetry by Chibbi” event will take place at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 10, in HUB Lounge 008. The event will feature poet Chibbi Orduña, who will perform his spoken word poetry. Orduña’s work is mostly about his queer and Latino identities.
For National Coming Out Day on Tuesday, October 11, CSGD is holding a “Come One, Come All” celebration event from 3 to 7 p.m. in room LL011 of the HUB. Students can connect with other members of the LGBTQ+ community and enjoy some refreshments.
International Pronouns Day is Wednesday, October 19, which CSGD also encourages students to celebrate. The Center will run an “Ask Me My Pronouns” campaign and hand out items in the HUB.
Later in the month, CSGD will organize an “Out and Engaged” day trip to Washington, D.C., on Friday, October 28. CSGD hopes to expose students to LGBTQ+ history and encourage civic engagement with the community through this all-day trip. Students interested in attending the event should register by October 21 in room LL011 of the HUB.
Penn State’s Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity has many resources for LGBTQ+ students, including scholarships, health and wellness education, programming, and mentor programs throughout the year. Visit the CSGD website to learn about the wide variety of initiatives it offers.
