RED BLUFF — Tehama County Public Health is holding a pair of separate drive-through flu shot clinics in Red Bluff and Corning.
The Red Bluff clinic is happening 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Tehama County Government Center, 1850 Walnut St., Red Bluff.
The Corning clinic will take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m Sunday, Oct. 30, in the Meuser Memorial Health Center, 275 Solano St.
These clinics are both free, according to a press release issued Oct. 6 by Tehama County Public Health.
Attendees to this year’s flu shot clinics will be required to wear a face covering during the events.
The clinics will only have flu vaccine available, no high-dose flu or any other vaccines. There will not be COVID-19 testing or vaccine available at these clinics.
Public Health suggests anyone planning to attend the clinic perform a symptom and temperature self-check before leaving their home. If a person is experiencing any of the symptoms of COVID-19, they are recommended to stay home and seek medical attention as necessary.
Attendees should wear loose-fitting clothing that quickly bares the upper arm and leave pets at home.
Everyone entering the clinic will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms and have their temperature taken with a non-contact thermometer. For everyone’s protection, anyone experiencing symptoms or having a temperature above 100.4 degrees will not be able to proceed through the clinic and will be directed to return home and contact their primary physician.
According to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, every year, the flu causes millions of illnesses, hundreds of thousands of hospitalizations and tens of thousands of deaths, the release said.
The CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccine for anyone six months and older, including pregnant women.
Funding for the drive-through clinics is provided by the California Department of Public Health’s Emergency Preparedness and Pandemic Influenza Programs.
