Greenville Center for Creative Arts to host 'Square Roots' exhibit – Greenville Journal

“Square Roots” will open Nov. 4 at the Greenville Center for Creative Arts at 101 Abney St.
The exhibition will run through Dec. 21 and will feature Sarkis Chorbadijan’s abstract expressionist-style paintings in square formats that explore the application and removal of oil and cold wax layers.
His works are inspired by places he has visited or imagined, said the gallery in a press release.
“It’s interesting how one is influenced by first impressions,” said Chorbadijan. “When I first saw the exhibition space at GCCA I had an overwhelming feeling that all the paintings for this show should be square. I enjoy applying and removing layers of paint and sometimes scratching the surface to its root to ultimately achieve a form that carries emotional weight.”
GCCA will also host an opening reception to celebrate the exhibit on Nov. 4 from 6-9 p.m.
