Trick-or-Treaters are invited to collect candy on Monday, October 31, from 4 to 6 p.m.
FARGO, N.D. – In celebration of the Grand Opening of its Downtown Substation located at 511 4th Avenue North on the first floor of the Mercantile Building, The Fargo Police Department (FPD) will hand out candy to trick-or-treaters from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2022. FPD officers will be set up outside the Substation but will transition inside in the event of inclement weather.
The Downtown Substation will not be staffed 24/7 but will be frequented by FPD officers on all shifts. The Substation will increase FPD’s presence in the downtown area and will serve as another base of operations for officers to keep equipment such as bikes, complete reports, and interact with the downtown community. A meeting room will also be included.
Marked with a blue light, an emergency phone monitored via camera will connect individuals immediately to the Red River Regional Dispatch Center and will be available 24/7 at the front entrance of the building. The FPD is working with its downtown partners to add additional lighted phones and lighted signage indicating the Downtown Substation will be introduced at a later date.
Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski remarked, “We are excited about the completion of this project as it allows officers to be present in the downtown area on a more frequent basis regardless of their assignment. This substation represents another step in enhancing downtown safety for our residents and visitors to our city.”
