“The View” co-host Ana Navarro spoke candidly Wednesday about her struggles with in vitro fertilization.
Navarro, 50, shared on the ABC talk show that she and her husband, Al Cárdenas, whom she married in March 2019, tried the procedure but it wasn’t successful.
“By the time I tried, it was too late,” she said.
“With IVF, Al and I tried,” the TV personality continued, noting she often encourages women to freeze their eggs.
“I always tell women who are career women who are trying to get into that space, ‘Look, if you can afford it — and that’s a big if — if you can afford it, you should freeze your eggs,’” she explained.
“Just because it leaves you with a level of options.”
Navarro’s co-host Sunny Hostin also chimed in with her own infertility struggles.
“I got married at 40, my husband was younger, and I had to go through round after round after round — five miscarriages to have two children,” she recalled.
Hostin, 54, who shares Gabriel, 20, and Paloma, 16, with husband Emmanuel Hostin, said she “didn’t want to mention” the experience to her friends.

“We depleted our savings. It took us 10 years to be back to where we were before we wanted to have children,” she continued.
“That’s why they owe me everything.”
The candid revelation comes a few months after Navarro was announced as a permanent co-host on “The View.”
She joined Hostin, Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines and Joy Behar at the table after appearing as a contributor and guest co-host for several years.
Political adviser Alyssa Farah Griffin was also announced as a permanent co-host this year.
“I can’t say how much I’ve learned from all of you and hope to learn from all of you,” Griffin, 33, said at the time.
“If there is one thing I believe, there is more that unites this country than divides it. I think that we can demonstrate at this table which our elective leaders often can’t.”
