HUDSON VALLEY, NY — ‘Tis the season for giving back to your community. There are a number of ways that you and your family can help out through the holidays and help others.
Every day through Christmas, Patch will be highlighting a way you can provide compassion and resources to those in need.
Volunteer New York! makes it easy to find ways to help — through donations, supporting nonprofits and even volunteering from home.
Today’s opportunity is for the Junior League of Central Westchester’s 2022 Plan Your Own Holiday Diaper Drive for New Families. With many families in Westchester County already struggling to afford enough diapers for their babies — and the COVID pandemic increasing that need — the holiday season can be especially difficult. Volunteers can help support the Westchester County Diaper Bank’s efforts to help these families by organizing a diaper drive.
The drives can be run from home, work, school or a faith-based organization. It can be done with teams, of course.
Volunteers will be provided with a “How to Host a Diaper Drive” kit, as well as posters and educational materials to get started. Larger diaper sizes — 4, 5 and 6 — and pull-ups in all sizes are needed most. Baby wipes are also needed.
