NBA-record crowd watches Spurs host game at Alamodome – Sportsnaut

More than 68,000 fans, an NBA record, turned out at the Alamodome on Friday as the host San Antonio Spurs turned back the clock by playing at the venue they called home for nine seasons spanning the turn of the century.
Before an announced crowd of 68,323, the Golden State Warriors handily defeated the Spurs 144-113. The attendance set an NBA record for a regular-season game, surpassing the 62,046 who watched the Atlanta Hawks host the Chicago Bulls at the Georgia Dome on March 27, 1998.
Playing one game in the dome is part of the Spurs’ celebration of their 50th anniversary season. The team played home games there from 1993-2002 and won its first championship in 1999. The NBA All-Star Game was held there in 1996.
The Spurs’ home court is now the AT&T Center, some three miles east of the dome.
